Tile Is Part of the Remodel, Not an Afterthought
Tile is one of those finishes people live with every single day — bare feet on a shower floor, a wet glass set down on a backsplash, a patio surface in August. So we don't treat it as the last line item on a punch list. Tile layout gets decided early, on the drawings, alongside the cabinet runs, the drain locations and the door openings, because that's the only way the grout lines land where they should and the cuts end up in the corners instead of the middle of the wall.
Michael Fischer is a residential remodeling and construction contractor based in Scottsdale, licensed, bonded, and insured under Arizona ROC General Dual License #327028. All of the tile work we do happens inside a project we're already building — a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, a backyard — so the substrate, the waterproofing and the finish are all handled by the same crew that framed and plumbed the room. Nothing gets handed off and nothing gets blamed on the last guy.
Where Tile Shows Up in Our Projects
Tile isn't a standalone service we sell — it's part of the six things we build. Here's where it tends to do the most work:
- Kitchen remodeling — backsplashes behind ranges and hoods, full-height slab-to-ceiling runs, and floor tile laid to work with new cabinetry and countertop layouts.
- Bathroom remodeling — walk-in shower conversions with tiled curbless entries, niches, benches and pan slopes, plus vanity surrounds and floors in spa-inspired redesigns.
- Living room renovation — fireplace surrounds, hearths and tiled accent walls that tie into new flooring and custom built-ins.
- Backyard, patio and pool design — pool coping and waterline tile, outdoor kitchen counters and surrounds, and hardscaping that holds up to Arizona sun and monsoon runoff.
- Sliding and accordion door wall systems — the interior and exterior floor transition at a sliding glass wall or folding door opening, so the tile runs clean through the threshold.

You See the Layout Before We Set a Single Tile
Every project runs through our in-house design work first. That means AutoCAD drafting, 3D renderings, floor plan development and permitting are all done before demolition starts — and tile patterns, transitions and finish heights are part of what you're looking at when you approve the drawings.
We bring every project to life with in-house AutoCAD drafting, 3D renderings, floor plan development and permitting.
- We walk the property, measure the space and look at what's behind the existing surfaces.
- We draft the plan in AutoCAD and develop the layout — including tile direction, pattern and transition points.
- You see the 3D renderings and sign off on the finishes before anything is ordered.
- We pull permits where the scope requires them.
- Our crew demos, preps the substrate, waterproofs wet areas and sets the tile.
- We grout, seal, clean up and walk the finished room with you.
If something on the drawing doesn't sit right with you, changing it on screen costs nothing. Changing it after the thinset has cured costs a great deal. That's the whole reason the design step comes first.
