From custom pool installations and outdoor kitchens to hardscaping, pergolas and full backyard transformations, Michael Fischer builds outdoor living spaces that extend your home and change the way you use it every day.

Outdoor Living Spaces Built Around How You Use Them
The space behind a house is usually the most underused part of the property. In the Scottsdale area, where the weather invites you outside nearly year-round, a well-designed backyard isn't a luxury item — it's one of the better investments a homeowner can make. Most of the people I work with start with a bare lot, an awkward slope, or a patio that was poured decades ago and never really worked. The goal is always the same: figure out how you actually want to spend time out there, then build the layout around it.
Every backyard and patio project starts with design work done in-house. AutoCAD drafting, 3D renderings, site planning and material selection all happen before anything is dug, so pool placement, patio structure, deck space and outdoor kitchen flow are mapped out and approved on paper first. That's the part that keeps a backyard from feeling assembled in pieces.

One Team for Grading, Pools, Patios and Kitchens
An outdoor build touches more trades than most interior remodels. Grading and drainage have to be right or everything downstream suffers. Patio covers and pergolas are structural work. A pool needs shell, plumbing and equipment coordination. An outdoor kitchen needs gas, water and electrical roughed in before the hardscape goes down. And every exterior finish has to survive Arizona sun and monsoon season.
I handle the full scope under one project manager, which means you're not chasing four separate contractors or refereeing their schedules. Typical work on a backyard project includes:
- Site preparation, grading and drainage
- Patio structure framing and covering
- Pergola construction
- Outdoor kitchen construction with utility rough-in
- Permit applications and inspection scheduling
- Final landscaping integration

From Site Walk to Finished Backyard
The process is the same whether we're adding a pergola or rebuilding the entire yard:
- We walk the property, measure, and talk through how you want to use the space
- I draft the layout in AutoCAD and you see 3D renderings before committing
- We finalize materials, finishes and a written scope with pricing
- I pull the permits and schedule inspections
- Grading, pool, structures and hardscape are built in sequence by one coordinated crew
- We walk the finished yard together and close out any punch list items
The result is an outdoor living environment that was designed as a unified space — not assembled piecemeal.

Hiring a licensed general contractor for a pool and patio project means the finished space is built to code, built to last, and built to work the way the drawings said it would. I'm licensed, bonded and insuredhold Arizona ROC General Dual License #327028and maintain an . Those aren't decorations — they're what lets you put real money into an outdoor space with confidence in who's delivering it.
Serving Scottsdale and the Surrounding Communities
Backyard, patio and pool work is available in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, Rio Verde, Carefree and Phoenix. Alongside outdoor living, I also handle kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, living room renovation, sliding and accordion door wall systems, and architectural design and project management — door wall systems in particular pair well with a patio build, they open the house straight onto the new space.
